Art Studio

Students are taught to value the creative process and appreciate their artistic endeavors. From Kindergarten through Grade 8, students explore different artists, concepts, themes, materials, techniques, tools, and use a variety of media to expand their creative expression. A dedicated Art Studio facilitates in-depth instruction by a team of talented artists and teachers.

Music

Students learn the relationship between music and other arts and disciplines; they study rhythmic patterns, reading and notating music, as well as instrument families. Primary Kindergarten through Grade 2 students sing and play percussion instruments. Students in Grades 3 - 8 are taught to play the recorder, violin, and clarinet. All students participate in several concerts throughout the year, with additional opportunities for small ensemble performances.

Spanish

Spanish is taught from Kindergarten through Grade 8. The project-based curriculum includes study of the cultures of Latin America, as well as instruction in language conventions, pronunciation, and conversational techniques.

Technology

Computer projects are extensions of classroom lessons and teachers’ curricular goals. Students learn basic skills and programs, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and website development. A fast fiber and wireless network supports several hundred computers networked with content-filtered school-wide internet access.

Library

Our collection includes over 3,000 volumes, with a wide-range of reference materials and a large fiction collection. Our catalog is automated and available on computers in the library, as well as accessed through computers in each classroom. Every class has time in the library weekly for small group study of age-appropriate material.
