Field trips provide unique opportunities for learning and community building, especially on academic adventures that involve overnight stays.
In Grade 8, students go behind-the-scenes during three days at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, while history and government come alive during a week in Washington, DC. in Grade 7, students take a five day spiritual retreat to Yosemite National Park, and in Grade 6, students spend four days in an Outdoor Education Camp. With a focus on California history, highlights of the Grade 4 field learning program are a day trip to the Mission San Juan Baptista and three days exploring California's Gold Country.
Curriculum related day trips for students in primary Kindergarten through Grade 3 augment their learning. Primary Kindergarten students enjoy a trip to the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Kindergarteners visit the local Post Office, the San Francisco Zoo, and have a beach clean up day with their Grade 6 Buddies.
Field learning in Grade 1 includes planting and harvesting vegetables in the Saint Hilary garden, attending the Nutcracker Ballet and a trip to the Jelly Belly Factory with Grade 7 Buddies. Students in Grades 2 and 3 have many opportunities for hands on learning, including visits to the farm at Slide Ranch, a Youth in Arts Drama Production, a hike through Muir Woods and trips to the Exploratorium. |
