Our collection includes more than 8,000 volumes, featuring a wide-ranging of reference materials, and an ever-growing fiction collection that serves students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Our catalog is continually reviewed and updated to ensure it provides the more current and relevant collection. The catalog is automated and available on multiple computers in the library, as well as accessed through computers in each classroom.
Curriculum
Every class has time in the library each week for small group study of age-appropriate material. Students in Primary Kindergarten and Grade 1 are read a story and participate in a short activity designed to enhance reading comprehension and retention. In Grade 2, students are read chapter books, listening to subsequent chapters read over a period of library sessions. These students also complete reading activities related to the story as it unfolds. Students in Grades 3 and 4 select their own books to check out, read, and complete related work assigned by their
classroom teachers. Students in Grades 6 through 8 participate in various literature groups to discuss the books they are reading, as grouped by various themes. Extension activities are periodically completed to deepen students’ understanding of concepts and literary elements.
Birthday Book Program
The Birthday Book Program helps fund new additions to the school collection. Families donate a book or funds to purchase books in honor of their child’s birthday. The Birthday Book features a nameplate with the student’s name and birth date.
