 Welcome from our Principal

 Mr. Charley Hayes

Welcome to Saint Hilary School: a professional learning community embracing academic excellence, community spirit, and spiritual strength.

Founded in 1963 by the Sisters of the Holy Faith, Saint Hilary School is a unique blend of a traditional and progressive practice. Our whole-child approach to education prepares our well-rounded and intelligent graduates of character for success in the Bay Area's most rigorous college preparatory high schools, and in life.

Led by a team of professional and dedicated teachers, our academic program is challenging and engaging. From our school-wide Accelerated Reader program to our Everyday Math curriculum, we endeavor to present our students with the best possible academic opportunities. This approach resulted in our school being selected into the Challenge Success program at Stanford University's School of Education. Our active participation in Challenge Success throughout the 2010-2011 school year provide us a unique opportunity to compare our curriculum and school culture to the latest research on student achievement.

In addition to Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, and Religion, our curriculum features Physical Education, Spanish, Music, Fine Arts, and Computers. We've integrated Smartboards, PCs and iPads into our repertoire of teaching tools, providing opportunities for individualized instruction from grades K through 8, and, this year, every middle school student will be assigned an iPad. Our investment in the latest technology is increasing the opportunities for student-driven projects and differentiated learning.

The excellence of our academic program is enhanced by the active participation of our families - our partners in education. This is an active and supportive community, expressed in our motto, "We take families, not students." Parent volunteers, school and parish-wide community-building events, and an Ambassador Program for new families, promote a trust and camaraderie within our community that allows us to educate students at the highest level.

As a Catholic school, we believe that the religious and spiritual development of the child is indispensable in attaining a genuine whole-child education. By teaching about the Catholic Faith, both Catholics and non-Catholics learn a common set of values, beliefs, and expectations. We are humbly proud of our students and the life-long love of learning that starts here.
