Technology

Saint Hilary School has one of the most advanced Technology programs in the area, including a fast fiber and wireless network and over hundreds of computers with Internet access school-wide.

Students can access computers from the classroom or in the Library/Technology center. This ready access ensures that students learn all of the basic computer skills; computers are integrated into the curriculum so that technology becomes a tool to enhance their academic progress.

The technology program at Saint Hilary School is driven by the classroom curriculum; projects embarked upon in computer classes are extensions of classroom lessons and the classroom teachers’ curricular goals. These projects additionally meet the following criteria:

  • Projects are open-ended activities which allow students at a variety of learning levels and abilities to meet success.
  • Projects encourage critical thinking skills.

Over the course of the year, students at each grade level will have specific skills introduced and or developed. Technologically produced projects are integrated into the classroom teachers’ specific learning goals because students’ access to new software and hardware may change over the course of the school year. The needs of a particular grade level are unique to each class of students. The goal throughout the curriculum is to have students use technology to enhance their educational goals. We would like each student to view technology as a tool in his or her education. We will be using the Internet, with stick filtering for content, as a resource for classroom projects.
